Humble Bundle sliders are not going away anytime soon. The charity-focused discount game retailer has reversed its earlier decision to remove them, promising to " be more transparent about the path forward."

As you may know, Humble Bundle is a site that collects bundles of games, movies, books, comics, and the like and sells them in a package at a discount. Part of the appeal (and a major element of the company's history) is the ability to support a charity of your choice with your purchase. However much you spent, you could decide how much of it went to the game publishers, your chosen charity, and Humble Bundle itself using a series of sliders.

Back in mid-April 2021, a number of gamers — including TechRaptor staff — noticed an apparent inability to use the Humble Bundle sliders to adjust their prices. One week later, Humble Bundle put out a blog post stating that the bundle split sliders were being removed entirely in favor of static choices that would give a charity either 5% or 15% of the bundle price (and no more). Now, Humble Bundle has released a new blog post that completely reverses its decision.

The Humble Bundle Sliders are Here to Stay — For Now

The Humble Bundle sliders are going to be turned back on for anyone who was missing them. Best of all, however, is the announcement that Humble Bundle has reversed course and will not be removing them from the site after all.

"Today, we’ll be turning sliders back on for all customers on our bundle pages while we take more time to review feedback and consider sliders and the importance of customization for purchases on bundle pages in the long term," read the Humble Bundle blog post. "In the coming weeks, we’ll roll out the updated design which will include sliders that work exactly as they did previously. Once the new design is live, we will continue to iterate on it, incorporating feedback from the community into its ongoing evolution."

Going forward, Humble Bundle pledges to collect more data and feedback before making any substantial changes to the Humble Bundle sliders. However, there is still the possibility that the system will change somehow; it's just that Humble Bundle won't suddenly drop the news on its users without collecting any feedback first.

"In the coming weeks, we’ll roll out the updated design which will include sliders that work exactly as they did previously," the blog post continued. Once the new design is live, we will continue to iterate on it, incorporating feedback from the community into its ongoing evolution. Part of that future development will include exploring different approaches to the sliders and how splits work, along with new ways to incorporate charity into other parts of the user experience."

"But we’re committed to sharing our plans and getting feedback from this incredible community beforehand to ensure any changes we make live up to our mission and values. If there’s one thing that’s clearer than ever, it’s how important the feedback is from the Humble community ahead of making big changes."

You can read the full blog post for all the fine details. As noted in that post, things may very well change in the future, but only after Humble Bundle collects feedback from its community. For now, the Humble Bundle sliders are safe.
