Ubisoft has revealed Tom Clancy's XDefiant, a new free-to-play first-person shooter that's coming to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in the future, it will also be coming to streaming platforms Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. What's more, a Closed Test is arriving on PC next month.

Tom Clancy's XDefiant is a fast-paced arena shooter featuring four unique factions and loads of customizability. The Tom Clancy branding has meaning here — it promises to feature factions from the Tom Clancy universe and beyond, each of which will have its own specialties. Check out the Tom Clancy's XDefiant reveal for yourself!

Players will be able to select from four factions: Wolves, Outcasts, Cleaners, and Echelon. These four groups will battle it out on iconic locations, and each individual character — called "Defiants" — will be bringing something special to the table.

Cosmetics aside, you will also be able to select traits, abilities, and ultras. Naturally, there will be a bunch of different weapons to choose from, too — and you can customize all of this stuff on the fly. There will be competitive 6v6 arena and linear game modes.

When is the Tom Clancy's XDefiant Closed Test?

The Tom Clancy's XDefiant closed test will begin on August 5, 2021; it will be open to PC players in the US and Canada. Do keep in mind, however, that this new shooter is in early development and it will likely be a while before it's ready for prime time.

You can register to get into the first public beta on the game's official website. If you're lucky enough to get in, you won't have to go it alone — each invitee will be provided with codes to bring along five of their friends, too!
