During a livestreamed Q&A session dedicated to discussing the wide restructuring effort affecting Embracer and its developers, the group's executives have offered more color.

Specifically, interim chief operations officer Matthew Karch explained how the group is going to seek better efficiency in allocating its development resources to games that can achieve better results.

You know, I think some times growth comes by cuts. You refocus your effort, you do a better analysis of the talent that you have. Some times teams get put on projects because the team has availability and in a structure that is not quite as consolidated, there aren't necessarily the shared resources to put that team on the best product.

So with some more centralization, and I'm not obviously implying that we're moving from one model to another, but we are going to incorporate elements of consolidation and centralization into certain aspects of our business, we're going to have a much better picture of the teams that are coming available, and we're going to have much better data to support product selection and to create product which is going to ultimately achieve better results that some of our past products have.

In particular, Karch offered The Lord of the Rings as an example of an IP that Embracer plan to exploit "in a very significant fashion" and turn into "one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world."

I have a high degree of confidence that this entire process is going to easily translate into better product selection that is more profitable and that gives us a greater opportunity for growth in the future and that helps to leverage the IP that we own within our organization. I mean, we have The Lord of the Rings and we know that we need to be exploiting Lord of the Rings in a very significant fashion and turn that into one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world. And that's obviously something that we're going to be doing.

That's a much better use of resources than some of the other projects that some of our teams have been working on.

Speaking of Embracer, recently we heard that a "groundbreaking strategic partnership agreement" that the group was courting suddenly fell through.

We've also learned that Embracer has partnered with Amazon Games for the development of a The Lord of The Rings MMO defined as an "open-world MMO adventure in a persistent world set in Middle-earth,"
