The Elder Scrolls: Blades Nintendo Switch release has finally arrived, giving players the opportunity to play this free-to-play game set in The Elder Scrolls universe without having to whip out their phone.

If you're not familiar with The Elder Scrolls: Blade, it's a free-to-play game that initially debuted for mobile devices a ways back. It replicates much of the gameplay of The Elder Scrolls franchise, but it's simplified in many respects, too — don't expect an epic adventure where you can spend hundreds of hours exploring a massive open world.

You'll take on the role of one of the surviving members of the titular Blades, an elite organization of Warriors that were once dedicated to protecting the Emperor as his personal guard. They also didn't like dragons very much and specialized in kicking their butts, a plot point that (rather understandably) pops up in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Unfortunately, the Blades fell out of favor thanks to the filthy N'wah Thalmor troops who went around hunting them down following the Great War. As one of these remaining exiles, you'll have to fight to survive in an increasingly hostile world.

Where Can You Get The Elder Scrolls: Blades Nintendo Switch Release?

If you're keen on playing some fun The Elder Scrolls action without spending a penny, you can pick it up right now on the Nintendo eShop for the tantalizing price of zero dollars. Mobile gamers can also get it on Android and iOS.

Do bear in mind that this is a free-to-play game, and one made by Bethesda no less — you can expect there to be microtransactions of all sorts in the game. Still, it seems like it would make for a pretty fun diversion.
