With the upcoming Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition hitting stores soon, developer Techland has said that they will add a new feature called Legendary Levels to the enhanced edition, which will be available to everyone who owns Dying Light free of charge.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0uDHUwXoqA
These levels will become available to you once you've maxed out one of the three available skill trees (survivor, agility and power), you will gain access to a completely new Legendary skill tree. Experience earned by playing the game will give you access to legendary skills like improved melee and weapon damage, upgraded health and other stat attributes. Every 25 Legendary Levels you obtain gives you access to exclusive emblems, outfits and, most important of all, new weapons to help you in your quest to give the undead a more permanent state of unbeing. Maciej Binkowski, the lead designer, spoke a bit about the addition and how it was to make post-game content more meaty, saying in addition:
We’re adding 250 additional levels, so you can keep on developing your character while unlocking new weapons, outfits, emblems, and skills. It means massive replayability.
Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition will be coming out on the 9th of February next year, and will be bundled with all the season pass DLC, as well as a new Be The Zombie mode, which lets players - you guessed it! - play as one of the ever hungry walking corpses that populate the city. Those who purchase Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition will also get the The Following expansion as the title might infer, which is set on a new map and has a completely new story. Those who don't have the Season Pass but want the Expansion in addition to their vanilla game can expect a $19.99 price.
Although the Legendary Levels themselves are little more than a quality of life update, it being bundled with all the other bits of content makes this the definitive edition of Dying Light. The game itself is more than fun as it is, and all this stuff will add a significant amount of replay value to an already pretty big game. It's a big step up from the somewhat lackluster Dead Island, and their continued commitment to updating the game makes it a pretty easy purchase if you're into some zombie smashing.
