The RPG with board-game elements, Dokapon Kingdom, is making its way to Nintendo Switch, and though we don't have a release date for those of us in the West, we do have an insider's look at what we can expect with its release.
Picture a bit of Mario Party meets turn-based combat with RPG elements, and that is what you get from Dokapon Kingdom. Developed by Sting and published in Japan by Compile Heart and in the west by its American arm Idea Factory International, it was Originally released for the PlayStation 2 and Wii systems. Fans will finally see it come to Nintendo Switch at some point in 2023. The rules and aim of the game are quite simple to follow; Spin the wheel and defeat anyone who stands in your way. This updated version of the original also includes an online multiplayer feature, meaning friends can come together or tear each other apart on the board.
There are five different game modes to choose from, including Normal, Story, Shopping Race, Kill Race, and Town Race. Each of the game modes spans over different continents, with seven to traverse in total, meaning this game board is absolutely gigantic. Not only is the board massive, but there are 11 different job classes to choose from to fully customize your playthrough. Players will choose their starter class which includes Warrior, Magician, and Thief, and build it up using experience points. Whether you want to get up close and personal with foes or smash them to bits from afar, the classes cater to your playstyle. It is up to you and your friends to demolish the monsters that are attacking the kingdom and stop the economy from completely crashing and burning in the process.
Though there is no set release date for those of us in North America or Europe, we know it's coming at some point in the Spring of 2023.
