Devolver Digital’s The Crush House Wants You to Make the Ultimate 90s Reality Show

That's right: Devolver Digital's April Fools' joke was anything but, and now The Crush House wants to enlist you to make the most salacious 90s reality show you can.

Devolver Digital and Card Shark developer Nerial have announced The Crush House, a "thirst-person shooter" in which you must create the perfect 90s reality show.

You'll play as Jae, a producer who's just scored her dream gig on the 1999 reality TV show The Crush House. It'll be your responsibility to film the inhabitants of a Malibu mansion, capturing all of the romance and drama that ensues with each season.

The Crush House will let you choose the cast, but you'll need to keep up with your audience's demands; they might want to see an argument one minute and a salacious tryst the next, and it's your job to give them what they want.

If you've ever wanted to be a producer on Love Island, then The Crush House is very much for you.

This being a Devolver Digital game, it probably won't surprise you to learn that there's more going on behind the scenes, just like there is in other Devolver games like Inscryption and Katana Zero.

Mysteries you'll need to solve include why the cast is so dependent on a beverage known as Crush Juice, and where something called the "Success Slide" leads. I'm guessing it's probably not anywhere nice.

The Crush House looks like exactly the kind of eccentric mashup between American ArcadiaThe Sims, and The Movies that I want, so I'm hyped to check this one out. You can take a look at the announcement trailer right here.

Although it was first announced on April Fools' DayThe Crush House is, in fact, not a joke project; it's a very real game, and it's slated for a 2024 release.

At the moment, The Crush House is only set to arrive on PC; no console release has been confirmed by Devolver or Nerial.

You can wishlist the game right here on Steam if you want to keep up with its progress. Stay tuned for more on this and all other things Devolver-related.
