Cyberpong VR, the first virtual reality game from COLOPL NI, has released on Steam for the HTC Vive according to a press release.

Cyberpong VR is a Tron-esque three-dimensional ping-pong game with both single player and multiplayer experiences.

The single player of the game showcased in the trailer displays gameplay similar to the Atari classic Breakout but in a 3D environment. The player has a paddle on each hand that is used to bounce multiple balls back towards a wall of blocks in an effort to destroy them. The blocks seem to gradually reappear over time, and the store page refers to it as an "Endless Mode" with local and global leaderboards.

The player can also swap out one of their paddles for special abilities. Some of these special abilities are showcased in a second trailer. One power-up is a gun that damages or outright destroys blocks once they've been shot. Another power-up acts similar to the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2; it can collect and hold multiple balls which can then be later released. The final power-up is a rocket attack that can destroy an area of blocks on the screen.

The multiplayer shown in the trailers does away with the blocks and power-ups. The game shifts to a simple game of ping-pong taking place in a corridor with the players at either end. Each player has a paddle in each hand. The objective is simply to score points by hitting the ball past the other player. It's also worth mentioning that there are four different avatars each with their own style of paddle.

Cyberpong VR can be purchased on Steam for $14.99 and is discounted at 10% off until May 5th. The HTC Vive is required to play, and the store page recommends a 2 meter x 1.5 meter area of space for comfortably playing the game.

What do you think of Cyberpong VR? Do you feel the title makes good use of the HTC Vive's goggles and control scheme? Do you feel the MSRP of $14.99 is fair for what you get in the title? Let us know in the comments below!
