Mobile developer King has announced a new Crash Bandicoot game for mobile platforms. Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! is a free-to-play game coming soon for both Android and iOS. It'll be an auto-runner covering highlights of the last 20 years of Crash Bandicoot as a franchise.

What exactly is Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!?

King and Activision describe On the Run! as a brand-new mobile adventure featuring "the best of the Crash Bandicoot franchise". It'll feature fan-favorite characters, bosses, and moves, as well as plenty of familiar locations. The story is pretty simple: Dr. Neo Cortex has relinquished his role as Crash's complex and reluctant ally and has returned to old-school villainy. It's up to Crash and Coco to stop him from taking control of the multiverse along with his iconic henchmen. You can check out the announcement trailer for Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! right here:

Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! creative lead Stephen Jarrett says the team's ambition is to "transform the runner experience with classic Crash gameplay". King is also planning to add progression systems which will incorporate "social, crafting, and base building". It's not yet clear exactly what the ancillary structure will be, but gameplay-wise, expect a classic auto-runner game with lots of twists on the formula.

King and Activision Blizzard haven't announced when they're planning to launch Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! yet. We'll bring you more on the game as soon as we get it. Until then, you can whet your appetite (and soothe your soul) for all things Crash by reminding yourself of the recent Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time announcement.
