At their press conference at Tokyo Game Show yesterday, Koei Tecmo announced which female characters would be included in the latest game in the Dead or Alive: Xtreme series. With 16 women currently in the Dead or Alive series Koei Tecmo decided that due to interactions between the characters it would be better to keep the number of girls down to just 9. In an interview with Famitsu in Japan, Hayashi Yosuke of Team Ninja invited fans to download skins for their PS4 or their favorite Dead or Alive female characters to decide which 9 would make it in game.
The results were announced at Tokyo Game Show on Saturday 19th September and are as follows:
- Marie Rose (17.6%)
- Honoka (14.9%)
- Kasumi (12%)
- Ayane (8.6%)
- Kokoro (8%)
- Nyotengu (7.6%)
- Hitomi (5.9%)
- Momoji (5.1%)
- Helena (4.9%)
It was a pretty tense race at the bottom with the 9th most popular character in constant flux, so Helena fans should be very pleased with the result. For those of you who haven't worked it out yet the 7 girls who will not be featured are: (In no particular order) Tina, Rachel, Sarah, Lisa, Mila, Christie and Leifang.
Also announced at the event was a third playable platform for the title. Koei Tecmo had previously announced two versions of the game Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3 Fortune for the PS4 and a downgraded version Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3 Venus made to run on the inferior hardware of the PS Vita. However, at the conference Koei Tecmo also announced that the PS4 version would be made compatible with the new PlayStation VR previously called Project Morpheus, which has been set for release in early 2016. Fans of the series can now look forward to playing the latest Dead or Alive: Xtreme game in full immersive virtual reality. Koei Tecmo did not announce how the game would adapt for VR or if it would be adapted at all, for example adding a first person mode.
Are you looking forward to Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3?
