It feels like only yesterday that we've heard Deckard Cain's voice for the very first time, but, in reality, it's been 20 years since that day and I'm slowly getting old enough to wistfully think of games in days gone by. The storied franchise by Blizzard Entertainment has more than earned its place in the video game hall of fame, and Blizzard are celebrating this event with new Diablo-themed items in their other games!
As we approach the original game’s release anniversary on December 31, Blizzard Entertainment is thrilled to commemorate twenty years of Diablo. We’re ready to celebrate our passion for the world of Sanctuary and the brave heroes who inhabit it!As is always the case with Blizzard Entertainment, you will be able to get themed items in their other big games like Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, Starcraft II, World of Warcraft and, of course, Diablo III.
Let's start with the newest entry in the Diablo franchise. You will be able to relive a portion of the original Diablo with the 'Darkening of Tristram' event set in the iconic cathedral you saw in the first game and pits you against a few familiar faces in this dungeon.
Heroes of the Storm players will be able to get themselves a Diablo-themed portrait in addition to a new brawl map that has you once again fight for good or evil, depending on which side you start on.
Hearthstone is getting a Diablo Tavern Brawl featuring a "hooded stranger" with a "grim deck". There is no information as to what this tavern brawl entails, so you'll have to find out what this means once the Tavern Brawl goes live!
World of Warcraft players will be able to obtain a few mysterious (yet familiar) items you can use for the duration of the event. Do keep in mind that these items will disappear after the event's conclusion. There is an achievement associated with the event, which will most likely be a feat of strength. If you like to do an achievement hunt every now and then you may want to grab this one since you won't be able to get it after the event's over.
The last 2 games on the list are Overwatch and Starcraft II, which will both receive a new portrait while the former will also get a few new sprays you can show off when you've High Noon'd yourself to a Play of the Game.
