Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. is opening Japan’s largest VR entertainment center this summer. Opening July 14th the VR Zone Shinjuku will have over 15 virtual reality activities. The Tokyo facility will be the first of over 20 VR Zone locations around the world.
This isn’t the first VR entertainment center Bandai Namco has opened. Previously VR Zone Project i Can successfully offered virtual reality experiences to the public and the company is expanding on that model to create a bigger better version. People can start making reservations for VR Zone Shinjuku on Friday June 16th.
VR Zone Shinjuku is meant to be the flagship location for a chain of VR Zone’s across the world, -over 20 according to Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.’s Executive Officer of the Amusement Business Unit Yoshiyasu Horiuchi, who said,
VR ZONE SHINJUKU will be the flagship location for the next-generation of entertainment. A place where BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. carries out new challenges, delivers excitement and amazement to visitors from across the globe.Among the many attractions will be popular franchises and all new VR experiences. Visitors to VR Zone Shinjuku can play games based on favorite animes and video games like Dragon Ball VR “Master the Kamehameha”, Evangelion VR “The Throne of Souls”, Ghost in the Shell Arise: Stealth Hounds and MARIO KART ARCADE GP VR. Other VR activities there will include exploring a fantasy world on a winged bicycle and surviving frightening dinosaurs.
There will also be non VR experiences for guests to try out at VR Zone Shinjuku like escaping from a giant balloon in a locked cell. The facility will also include a resort themed dining space and a souvenir shop. Projection mapping installations in and out of the facility are also planned by Bandai Namco in partnership with digital art group NAKED. This digital art will feature PAC-MAN outside the center and a ‘Center Tree’ inside where guests can physically interact with the building.
