It looks like we're getting a pretty big Atlus announcement next year. How big? A 'pillar' announcement apparently. Given that Atlus just released Shin Megami Teseni V a few months back and we're probably due a new Persona game sometime soon, it looks like Persona fans will have something to look forward to going into 2022, at least if we're judging by some pretty notable creators over at Atlus.

The news comes from Famistu, where they have their annual end-of-year creator interviews, with their 2022 interviews revealing some interesting teasers.

The most notable quote comes from Shinjirou Takada, the manager over at Atlus' 1st Production Unit:

“I chose ‘Challenge’ as my keyword for 2022 in hopes to release a title to the world that will become a pillar for Atlus. The staff are working hard on development to make something that’ll be interesting and satisfying for everyone, so I’d be happy if you could look forward to it.”

Oh, I can imagine that a lot of people will be happy to look forward to a big Atlus announcement next year. There were also some other tidbits, with "various things being prepared" such as a Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remastered edition releasing in 2022.

If you don't know what that is, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax was originally released back in 2013. While that is less than a decade and probably means we won't see much of a remastering, it did and receive an 85 on Metacritic. So, while it's less than a decade old at least a good game is being remastered.

As for the big announcement, your guess is as good as mine, as while I could say Persona 6, Atlus has so many franchises tied into each other it could be anything. Still, as a 'pillar' title you'd hope it would be a big deal. We'll see.

Thanks, Gematsu.
