A new Atelier Marie Remake trailer has arrived, and it's aiming to teach you the fundamentals of alchemy. Don't worry, though; you won't be spending all of your time studying. There'll be plenty of time for adventure, and you can experience this "carefree, cozy RPG adventure" however you like.

Atelier Marie Remake is heading your way in just over a week, so now is the perfect time to get to know the basics. Koei Tecmo's adorable new trailer invites you to learn how to play Atelier Marie Remake "the way that works best for you", so it's all about having fun and not minmaxing your characters (or not necessarily, at any rate).

First, we get a look at how exploration will work. The trailer shows Marie gathering materials in a forest, then heading to her atelier in order to synthesize them into something useful. Items you collect will help you to create useful items, which will then give you more options in battle or in the field.

The new trailer also gives us a look at Atelier Marie Remake's battle system. Combat is turn-based, and you'll be able to team up with different party members, each of whom has their strengths and weaknesses. The trailer shows a fight against three fairly weak crow-like enemies, all of whom go down pretty easily, but when a dragon shows up to challenge Marie (or Marlone, as the trailer calls her) and her party, they make the prudent choice and flee.

Finally, we get a look at the story in Atelier Marie Remake. The trailer promises "many unique characters", including Marie's "sweet and thoughtful" best friend Schea Donnerstag, as well as her fellow Academy student Kreis Kuehl, the "positive and cheerful" adventurer Ruven, and the roguish bandit boss Schwalbe. You'll have plenty more characters to interact with in the finished game as well.

Atelier Marie Remake launches for PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch on July 13th. Pre-orders for the game are open right now.
