Arrowhead Game Studios, the developers of Magicka, Gauntlet, Helldivers, and The Showdown Effect has announced their first next-generation title. It is a third-person shooter "featuring next-gen graphics, innovative co-op, and agency for the community to alter the course of the game." It will also apparently share the same type of humor that is evident in the studio's previous games. It's Arrowhead Game Studios' fifth game and as a AAA title, the studio is looking to expand their team from the 65 developers that are currently working on the project.
“We are incredibly excited to create a new, next-gen, co-op experience for our fans and community. We are looking for talented developers to join us on this journey and are looking forward to sharing more details about the project at a later date,” said Johan Pilestedt, Game Director and CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios.
That's just about all that's been released so far, except the screenshot that shows off a dilapidated environment with a clay-like ground, a dead tree, and a cloudless sky that makes it seem like the game (or at least the screenshot) takes place in a Mad-Max-esque environment.
Going to the job openings page for Arrowhead Game Studios reveals a little more information. For the Game Designer - Worlds job opening that states that procedurally generated worlds will be in the title, which is interesting considering it's an AAA that looks quite good and isn't an indie title that more often make use of the technique. Nine jobs in total are currently available, ranging from the aforementioned job to Technical Art Director, Senior 3D Artist, and Engine Programmer. They're all for the same next-gen game, and apparently, some larger roles still need to be filled.
