El Shaddai: The Ascension of the Metatron is a stylistic action romp directed by famed developer Sawaki Takeyasu.

Based on the apocryphal book of Enoch, El Shaddai is a third-person action-platformer where you control Enoch, as he fights his way through vivid worlds seeking seven fallen angels to save all of mankind. Your skills are your weapon, and your health is tied to your holy armor; take enough hits, and it will slowly fall off of you as you fight. Master three distinct move sets and exploit the weaknesses of your foes with a fluid and elegant combat system, and save the world as you travel through visually striking, lush environments that represent the heavens and hell.

El Shaddai was originally released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but was given a re-released by crim Co Ltd -Takeyasu's new development studio - for the PC in 2021. This PC version includes a deluxe version, where you can purchase El Shaddai with a soundtrack and digital artbook.

Developer Quote

You'll only have four buttons: jump, attack, guard, and weapon stealing. But this simple way of proceeding is deeper than one can expect. There is no need for manuals or walkthroughs to get into the game, but if anyone is ready to deepen into the mechanics, the game will offer a profound, precise, and rewarding timing-based action experience. The motto of El Shaddai's gameplay always was to be "easy but profound". Many of the game's mechanics such as the offense-defense systems were carefully created to provide the best possible game feel.

The game received the "Future Game of the Show" award in the Tokyo Game Show 2010 and the script, noting some of the character's lines, got a gold mention on the Internet Buzzword Awards 2010 as well. The original aesthetics, the uniqueness of its concept, and the feeling of being ahead its time (2011) were widely discussed on the international media.

Release notes:
The game is fully dubbed in English, but subtitles in German, Spanish, Italian and French are also available on its worldwide release.
