Critter-rearing RPG series Yo-Kai Watch is no longer Nintendo-exclusive. The fourth installment - creatively titled Yo-Kai Watch 4 - will be heading to PS4.

This news comes via a trailer uploaded to the official Level-5 YouTube account. The trailer is entirely in Japanese apart from the phrase "PlayStation 4", which shows up towards the beginning of the trailer. It shows off some gameplay from the upcoming Yo-Kai Watch 4, presumably captured on a PS4. Prior to this announcement, the game was entirely Nintendo Switch-exclusive, having launched on that platform in Japan earlier this summer. Check out the PS4 trailer for Yo-Kai Watch 4 below:

The trailer shows longtime series protagonist Nate Adams exploring a city on foot and by bike, two staples of the Yo-Kai Watch series. There's also some footage of Nate revealing a hidden Yo-Kai using his watch, as well as a combat sequence. Battles look decidedly more Ni No Kuni-esque this time around; you're able to move freely around the battlefield, and your squad fights as you issue orders to them in real-time.

Seeing as the trailer is entirely in Japanese, it's hard to say whether the PS4 version of Yo-Kai Watch 4 will hit Western shores. We know the Switch version is definitely coming to the West at some point, although we don't have a concrete release window for that launch yet. Yo-Kai Watch hasn't found a massive audience in the same way properties like Pokémon have, so Level-5 will likely take its time with localization. Don't expect to see this one for a little while.

In the meantime, Japanese Level-5 RPG The Snack World recently got itself an ESRB rating, so you might be able to play that on your Switch or 3DS pretty soon. Here's hoping Level-5 can secure a place in Western gamers' hearts for Yo-Kai Watch 4.
