This week some interesting tidbits of information were revealed by Atlus regarding the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

The popular RPG series is getting a new title on the 3DS in Japan, which is a remake of the DS game Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. Titled Deep Strange Journey, the remake will feature several changes, according to gematsu, which will result in an "easier to play, refined version" of the DS title released in 2009.

The debut trailer from Atlus' Japanese Youtube Page showcases the promotion of the game.

The story of Strange Journey is relatively the same, a strike team travels to Antarctica to brave the mysterious Schwarzwelt, a large black hole that has begun swallowing the land and is growing larger by the hour. Inside the Schwarzwelt is a plethora of demons that the player can fight and befriend, while your morality defines the future of mankind.

Some of the changes include a new character, the mysterious woman named Alex who suddenly attacks the player while they are in the Schwarzwelt. Her motives are kept secret, at this time. Other changes include the addition of voice acting to the game, new animations and art, roughly 350 demons to encounter, and a new ending route to take.

The game is scheduled for release in Japan only this fall, with more details coming in the March version of Famitsu. You can check out the official Japanese website here as well.

Other Shin Megami Tensei news points to the Nintendo Switch version of the game, although this bit is a minor tidbit compared to the release of Deep Strange Journey. Atlus showcased a slightly longer version of their Nintendo Switch reveal trailer in January, but with a short clip attached to it showing a ruined city in a desert.

The clip was captured by Dualshockers on the Tokyo Livestream, and outside of the 8 seconds of footage, nothing else has been revealed about the Switch version of the game by Atlus though.
