The Nintendo Direct E3 2019 showcase was chock full of titles and big reveals, but one game that flew under the radar but deserves a bit of spotlight is a brand new remake of the Sega Saturn classic Panzer Dragoon.

The new Panzer Dragoon is designed to be a faithful remake of the original game with improved graphics and controls, in particular improved 360-degree controls and a new lock-on targeting feature that was absent in the original title.  Players will have to navigate the games seven large-scale levels, which range from subterranean ruins to tropical ocean vistas, fighting off hordes of enemies such as giant dragonflies, man-sized wasps, and flying battleships.

Originally a series of games developed by Sega, the first Panzer Dragoon was an exclusive title for Sega Saturn in 1995, an on-rails shooter that was cutting edge for its time thanks to its 3-D graphics, in-game cutscenes, and difficult controls and boss battles. The game is about chasing down a creature known as the Prototype Dragon on a lonely planet, preventing the Dragon from reaching a place known as The Tower.

The series spawned two sequels, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei for the Sega Saturn and Panzer Dragoon Orta for the original Xbox. Several spinoffs were also made, most notably the RPG Panzer Dragoon Saga, which is considered by many to be the best game made for the Sega Saturn, and one of the best video games ever made.

Panzer Dragoon: Remake is being developed by Polish Developer Forever Entertainment, who have also announced plans to develop a remake for Panzer Dragoon II Zwei in the near future.  No official release date has been announced for Panzer Dragoon: Remake, but it is slated for a Winter release and will be an exclusive title on the Nintendo Switch.
