During the Nintendo E3 2016 conference today, a release date for Paper Mario: Color Splash was finally announced for October 7, 2016, along with other Nintendo titles.
Paper Mario: Color Splash is the latest in the Paper Mario franchise series, which last saw a game in 2012 with the Nintendo 3DS title Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
Further game play footage for Paper Mario: Color Spray will be available tomorrow, during the second half of Nintendo’s E3 2016 Treehouse event. The game play footage from March’s Nintendo direct can be viewed below, which the TechRaptor staff recapped. TechRaptor staff also weighed in on their thoughts for the upcoming Paper Mario title.

I’m honestly not impressed with how the Paper Mario series has been going since the transition to the Wii and 3DS consoles. I played Paper Mario: Star Sticker, and really didn’t enjoy it. Since Paper Mario: Color Splash seems to be drawing inspiration from the last title in the franchise, I’m already on the fence as to whether I should get it. What gameplay footage I’ve seen hasn’t changed my mind on the matter. Perry’s editorial really sums up my thoughts and feelings on this game, from what we have available to use at this point. I’ll wait for more gameplay footage to surface before I make a final decision on it, but to me, this title just looks like filler that Nintendo needed for their yearly Mario title.
