The Kingdom Hearts franchise is celebrating its 15th anniversary this January and Square Enix is commemorating the event with a fancy display in Japan and a special memorabilia giveaway. The display can be found at the Tokyo Metro Marunouchisen Shinjuku Station Metro Promenade and includes a large memorial stained glass clock surrounded by 12 smaller stained glass pieces to mark each hour. All 13 of the pieces will be be part of a Twitter giveaway after the memorial is done being displayed.
Evoking the opening sequences of many Kingdom Hearts games, the stained glass clock features Sora amidst a classic blue glass background featuring other key characters in the games. The smaller pieces in the display include other characters and symbols from the franchise in artistic stained glass style. The memorial clock will be displayed in Tokyo from January 9th to 15th.
Once the anniversary display is finished, 13 lucky Kingdom Hearts fans will win a piece of the stained glass clock to keep for themselves. To participate in the Twitter contest you’ll need to follow the @_KingdomHearts Twitter account. Then tweet them a picture of your favorite piece which can be found on the promotional anniversary website here.
In addition to the memorial stained glass clock, Square Enix is celebrating Kingdom Hearts’ 15th anniversary with a video display featuring memorable moments from the franchise and a countdown to the launch of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue. The remastered collection is scheduled to release on January 12th as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
There will also be a special art exhibition in celebration of the 15 year milestone. The exhibit will include art from the series as well as a mural of the many characters met throughout the games.
