Idea Factory International is porting role-playing game Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force to the Switch sometime in January 2019. The digital-only release will come with all of the DLC that released for the PS4 version. Additionally, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force will boast a 20% discount during the first two weeks of its launch, cutting the regular price from $39.99 to $31.99. While the announcement came from Idea Factory International, Ghostlight Games will handle publishing in Europe. There's no specific release date locked down yet, but Switch owners can check out Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force when it releases sometime next month.

A remaster of the PS3 original, Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force is a traditional Japanese RPG in many ways. Eons ago, the Goddess and the Vile God warred with one another, creating and using more and more destructive weapons. Eventually, the two were sealed but left behind their weapons, which contained magical fairies. These days, those who wield the weapons are called Fencers, and the Fencer who collects all the weapons is said to be granted immeasurable power. Included as part of the DLC package is a number of new dungeons, fairies, difficulty modes, and costumes.

We found the original PS3 release to be somewhat lacking, even if it showed potential for then-unknown studio Compile Heart. Conversely, the Advent Dark Force remaster fully realized Compile Heart's dreams, as it ran and looked better on updated hardware. Although the later PC release suffered from some technical issues, the actual gameplay was still worth checking out. The impending release of Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force will be the first release of a Compile Heart game stateside after Super Neptunia RPG was delayed into 2019. The Switch has seen numerous Japanese games and RPGs already slated for release. With January around the corner, you'll be able to play Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force on the Switch before long.

Are you looking forward to this title coming to Nintendo Switch? Did you ever play the original?
