Back in May during Warhammer Fest 2022, Games Workshop announced that some changes would be coming to their dark sci-fi miniatures game, Warhammer 40k. Instead of having updated point values for all of the various units of the game locked behind the latest mission book, the updates would be available for free for all players. If you want to stay competitive in matched play, no need to pick up the newest mission book. That Warhammer 40k free points update is now live.
What Is In The Warhammer 40k Free Points Update?
The new Warhammer 40k free points update went live via an official Warhammer-Community post. The points update document, referred to as the Munitorium Field Manual 2022 MkII, contains major updates for every single playable army in Warhammer 40k. In matched play, the point values of these units supersede any and all prior printings. Bear in mind, that this newest season of Warhammer 40k, Warzone Nephilim, also includes major changes to how Command Points are earned. There also appear to be changes to secondary objectives as seen in the previewed changes coming to the Chaos Space Marines.

What does the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Points Update look like?
Games Workshop didn't just announce a Warhammer 40k free points update; they made a similar update for their high-fantasy miniatures game Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. In a completely separate post, Games Workshop announced new points updates for pitched battle play ahead of the release of their newest General's Handbook. Much like its far-future counterpart, these points changes affect every single army in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar and supersede any previously written material. This update is available to download for free right now.
Furthermore, a new Battlescroll has gone live for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. This rules update includes substantive changes to certain abilities. This includes tweaks to the Draconic Onslaught ability used by the Stormcast Eternals and Stormdrake Guard, as well as points rebalancing for various Chaos armies.
