Warhammer Fest 2022 Day 1 - New Chaos Space Marine Codex Details

As was teased at this year's AdeptiCon, the blasphemous Chaos Space Marines would be receiving a brand new Codex for the latest edition of Warhammer 40k. As per tradition, this Codex includes updates to established units as well as rules on brand new units. For example, the Possessed units are now on par in size with a Space Marine in Gravis Armor, their bodies now swelling with the power of pure Chaos. Furthermore, it appears that a new box of miniatures has been confirmed, showing off these more brutal revisions. In addition, new units were introduced that lean more into explicit body horror with the twisted Mutants and the nightmarish Torments. Finally, there was the reveal of a new HQ units - The Dark Commune.

Surprisingly, one of the armies of Chaos not shown off were the World Eaters. This is because they will be getting their very own Codex, unique mechanics, and in-depth lore. This isn't the first time a faction got their very own codex, the Death Guard and the Thousand Sons are good examples. While this dedicated Codex is still far off from release, Games Workshop did announce that a new Index Hereticus will be available to use alongside the new Chaos Space Marine Codex to help dedicated followers of the Blood God continue their battles until the new material is out.

Warhammer Fest 2022 Day 1 - Chapter Approved: War Zone Nephilim

With the conclusion of Warhammer 40k's first foray into seasonal content with Nachmund, the announcement of the newest season of content was to be expected. Chapter Approved: War Zone Nephilim is the name of the newest mission books for matched play and seems to focus on the undead robot army of the Necrons. It also contains a few substantial changes for the game. First, all players start with about half as many Command Points as they are used to, with the trade-off being that they will gain more Command Points at the end of each battle round, leading to more reactive play. Furthermore, points updates will not be included in these latest mission books...because points updates will now be totally free. Just consult the Warhammer 40k App or the official community website to stay updated on current costs.

Warhammer Fest 2022 Day 1 - New Warhammer+ Show Announced

Last but not least, there were the announcement of a new show set in the grim darkness of the far future for Games Workshop's dedicated streaming service, Warhammer+. It is a prequel series for the streaming service's fan-favorite Angels of Death, aptly named Angels of Death - Origins. It will retain the series' distinct black-and-white artstyle, and will further explore the backstories of various supporting characters. For those expecting a tease to the cliffhanger ending of the main show, Games Workshop did confirm that a Season 2 is in the works.
