Looks like the Fortnite Dragon Ball crossover that was leaked a few weeks ago is real after all. Epic Games has announced that Dragon Ball content will be coming to Fortnite next week, so you should be pretty excited if you're an anime fan.

What do we know about this Fortnite Dragon Ball crossover?

Fortnite is well-known for its crossover content. Back in June, Epic revealed an Among Us collab that brought a new piece of gear and a new emote to the game, and Fortnite has also crossed over with beloved franchises like Gears of War, Halo, and...uh...Will Smith. Now, the much-loved battle royale game is crossing over with another legendary property in the form of anime and manga series Dragon Ball. We're not quite sure what to expect from this Fortnite Dragon Ball collab yet, but thanks to leaks from last month, we've got some idea what might be happening.

Fortnite has already collaborated with HaloGears of War, and Among Us, and now it's Dragon Ball's turn.

According to prominent Fortnite Twitter analyst and leaker HypeX, a creative stamina prop was added to Fortnite in an update back in early July, and the logo on the prop is pretty unmistakably the logo for Dragon Ball's Capsule Corp. A few days after that, HypeX confirmed that the Fortnite Dragon Ball crossover will have four different skins. Naturally, we don't know what those skins are yet, but there are a couple of different ways Epic could go about it. The most obvious route would be to include skins for beloved characters like Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma, but that might be a touch incongruous since Fortnite characters use guns.

Of course, guns have played a pretty significant role in the Dragon Ball universe in the past, which might come as a surprise if your main takeaway from Dragon Ball is all the energy manipulation business. Back in the days of the original Dragon Ball series (and, funnily enough, in the new Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie), guns were far more commonplace; it wasn't unusual to see Goku and company being shot at by perennial enemies the Red Ribbon Army. Gradually, the series was overtaken by ki blasts and planet-swamping death rays, but things used to be much more grounded. As such, the Fortnite Dragon Ball collab might mean we see the return of characters like Launch, a lady with an Uzi who changed her personality whenever she sneezed (yes, really). Obviously, Epic could also go the Dragon Ball FighterZ route and just include four different variations of Goku. We'll have to wait and see what happens next week.
