The Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC list on Steam.

Microtransactions in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have been a big point of contention, though most of the game’s DLC can be obtained rather easily in-game. With that in mind, this guide will go over how to get Dragon's Dogma 2 Microtransactions free.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Microtransactions Obtainable In-Game For Free

Rift Crystals

Rift Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are a currency primarily used in relation to Pawns. You can pay RC to recruit Pawns of a higher level, along with buying items from certain shops. While multiple packs of RC are offered as DLC, there’s no reason to buy them.

You gain RC in a number of ways, from having your Pawn be used by other players, to killing Phantasms (the ghostlike enemies). Even if only a few players use your Pawn, you’ll gain enough Rift Crystals to last you a while.

Wakestones

Wakestones are used to revive both the player and named NPCs on death. Most of the time, these are collected in the form of Wakestone Shards, with three combining automatically to make a full Wakestone.

The easiest way to find Wakestones is by using the item Dragon’s Gaze, which marks nearby Wakestone Shards on the map. One can be obtained for free via Captain Brant’s quest “The Nameless Village”.

Location of the Dragonforged on the map.

Portcrystals

Portcrystals act as placeable fast travel markers, requiring Ferrystones to be used. You’ll gain one of these during the main story, with more obtainable from places such as the Sphinx’s riddles and the Dragonforged. Only a maximum of 10 can be placed at once, which is easily reached without spending any money.

Character Editing

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you always have the option of changing a few character features like hair via a barber. But for full customization, you need an Art of Metamorphosis.

2 of these can be bought at the Pawn Guilds (they use the normal shop icon on the map, but with an extra swirl next to them) in Vernworth and Bakbattahl for 500 Rift Crystals.

Rift Incense

Rift Incense is required to change your main Pawn’s inclination in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is initially chosen during character creation. Ambivalent Rift Incense changes it to a random inclination, while the other four types give the specific named inclination.

These can be bought at the Pawn Guilds (they use the normal shop icon on the map, but with an extra swirl next to them) in Vernworth and Bakbattahl. The Ambivalent Rift Incense has the most supply and is cheapest at 500 RC, while the others cost 2000 RC.

Checkpoint Rest Town on the map.

Makeshift Gaol Key

When jailed, you have a few options to escape. One of these is via the use of a Makeshift Gaol Key, which unlocks a single jail cell before breaking. However, there’s no need to buy these.

For starters, it’s possible to escape cells just by breaking down flimsy walls and walking away. You can even find a Makeshift Gaol Key in the Vernworth Gaol by breaking a pot after being arrested.

The best item for getting out of jail however is the actual Gaol Key given to you by Brant during the quest “The Caged Magistrate”. This has unlimited uses and, while you have to give it back after the quest is over, you can make a forgery of it.

Head to the Checkpoint Rest Town west of Vernworth (you can take an oxcart from the northwest exit), and get a forgery made at the Scrap Store. Wait a day, pick up the forgery, and then you’ll never have to worry about being stuck in jail again

Camping Kit

While the “special” Camping Kit offered via DLC isn’t available normally, camping kits are very common. Outside of the regular kits that you can find normally, the “Jadeite Orb“ quest in the Checkpoint Rest Town is a quick way to obtain an Elite Camping Kit. This rarely breaks, and is useful in all regions.
