Sadako Rising: Dead by Daylight is the latest Chapter for Dead by Daylight, and it's releasing in just under a month. It's inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel Ringu and the original film adaptation that from 1998. There was also an American remake called The Ring that released in 2002. Sadako is the 23rd Killer being added to the incredibly successful Dead by Daylight, along with a new survivor Yoichi Asakawa, who is the only survivor from the Ringu franchise to ever survive Sadako's wrath. Basically, there's a lot to look forward to in the latest Dead by Daylight update, so let's get to it, shall we?
What's in the Dead by Daylight Sadako Rising Update?
The latest Dead by Daylight update will have the aforementioned Sadako as the 23rd Killer and Yoichi Asakawa as the latest survivor added to the game. In the Ringu universe, Sadako was left to die and rot in a watery grave. Her wrath manifests in a cursed videotape that allows her to curse her viewers and eventually kill them. In-game, players will fear the flickering glow of a television as they try to survive just like Yoichi Asakawa once did.

In addition to the new Killer Sadako, there are many other items that evoke the world of Ringu. Yoichi Asakawa's story is one of loss by the shadow of evil. Originally shown as a boy from the original 1998 Ringu movie, his reappearance in the latest Dead by Daylight update will allow long-time fans of the franchise to reconnect with the child that's now become a man. Now a respect marine biologist, Yoichi searches for answers in a realm that is beyond rational understanding.
“Ringu introduces psychological horror to our game, which is very different from the slasher style our fans are used to. They can expect Sadako to come with creepy and surprising gameplay mechanics that are not found in other Killers”, shares Dave Richard, Creative Director, Dead by Daylight. “Survivors beware, she will freak you out!”
The latest Dead by Daylight update, Sadako Rising, will be available on March 8th on Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, Nintendo Switch and Stadia.
