The Risk of Rain 2 Void Fiend has been revealed as the second new survivor for the game and will be arriving alongside the Survivors of the Void DLC next month.
Risk of Rain 2 has been out for the better part of a year. In the time since launch, Hopoo Games has revealed a bunch of content over the last year and a pretty neat anniversary update. Now, the second new survivor has been revealed for the Survivors of the Void DLC -- get ready to wield the dark powers of the Void Fiend!
The Risk of Rain 2 Void Fiend is All About Balance
The Risk of Rain 2 Void Fiend will be an interesting new addition to the game. He slices, he dices, he's two characters in one!
That is to say, the Void Fiend will have two modes: Controlled Form and Corrupted Form. Corruption is increased by taking damage and is otherwise gradually increasing as you play. Once it reaches 100%, the Void Fiend will transform from his Controlled Form into his Corrupted Form. Transforming into the Corrupted Form will increase the Void Fiend's offensive capabilities, but you can opt to expend Corruption in order to heal yourself instead.
The Void Fiend will be the second new addition to the roster as part of the Survivors of the Void DLC; previously, the Survivor was revealed late last month.
What Are the Void Fiend's Abilities?
The Void Fiend will have four abilities emphasizing its ties to dark powers.
- Drown - Fire a long-range beam with a slowing effect for 300% damage. In Corrupted Form, this changes to a rapid-fire beam.
- Flood - Fires a chargeable plasma missile for 600%-1,100% damage. Corrupted Form instantly fires a missile at 1,100% damage with twice the explosion radius.
- Trespass - Purges debuffs and teleports the Void Feed into the air. This changes to a forward leap in Corrupted Form.
- Suppress - In Controlled Form, this consumes 25% Corruption to increase Health by 25%. Corrupted Form is the opposite: you can consume 25% Health to increase Corruption by 25%.
