The It Lurks Below Badlands Update is here and it brings with it a treasure trove of new content for players to enjoy! This Metroidvania from David Brevik's Graybeard Games — a man whose previous works include DiabloHellgate: LondonMarvel Heroes, and many others — has just gotten a fresh injection of content.

If you haven't yet played It Lurks Below, you're missing out on an experience that's quite unlike similar games in the genre. Imagine a game like Terraria or Starbound but created by one of the guys who made Diablo. That alone should be reason enough to play it!

Players are given a lot of freedom in deciding how they play. WIth eight different character classes and four different game modes (each with their own Hardcore variant), there's plenty of challenging content to explore! Now, the It Lurks Below Badlands Update has made this game even bigger.

New Content in the It Lurks Below Badlands Update

A news post on the game's Steam Community page details the new content that's arrived in the Badlands Update. The big-ticket item is the addition of the titular Badlands region, a location that unlocks after you kill the Prince of Annihilation.

Players will also be able to choose a new race: Ogre. Ogres are native to the Badlands and are keen on fighting against the forces of darkness in the world.

The town has also gotten an upgrade in the It Lurks Below Badlands Update. A new Town Hall building will let you mark the town as an "account-wide" town; all other characters (whether already existing or newly-created) can begin in this town or transfer to it. The bank has also gotten an upgrade which can created a Shared Vault.

Items, too, have been spiffed up a bit. They can now be enchanted up to four times, further increasing their power. Most items require that your character is a certain level, and some of them can be bound to a character (which means they can't be placed in the shiny new Shared Vault).

The last big interesting addition also ties into classes; at Levels 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100, you'll get a key to unlock one of the bound items. Items are what determine your class abilities in It Lurks Below. If you haven't put 2 and 2 together, the ability to unbind items alongside the Shared Vault means that cross-classes have just become a thing.

Graybeard Games have temporarily disabled Steam Cloud for testing and will continue to push small updates over the next few days. You can find out all of the changes in the It Lurks Below Badlands update by reading the full patch notes on the game's Steam Community page.

If this game sounds like the kind of thing you'd enjoy, you can pick it up for yourself on Steam at a price of $9.99 or your regional equivalent, a 50% discount off of its regular price of $19.99. The deal is only around for the next day or so, though, so don't delay!
