The early access of the action JRPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink is about to start, and Cygames released the launch trailer of this long-awaited title.

The trailer provides a look at the story and characters that we'll meet in the game, which promises to be a truly epic experience

Yet, it's an experience for which the fans of the Granblue Fantasy franchise had to wait for a long, long time.

I still remember the first time I took notice of Granblue Fantasy, at a Tokyo Game Show many years ago. As soon as I stepped off the train at the Kaihinmakuhari Station in Chiba where the show is traditionally hosted, I was welcomed by many posters dedicated to the mobile games, each featuring beautiful illustrations portraying its characters.

I was immediately hooked and had to try it out, which is quite special because at that time I was stubbornly against playing mobile games. Yet, Granblue Fantasy's art simply looked too good not to give it at least a try.

A couple of years after, in August of 2016, Cygames announced Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link, which at that time was developed by PlatinumGames. Of course, my interest went immediately through the roof, as the game looked extremely promising from the get-go.

Since then, many things have changed and PlatinumGames left the project, which returned fully into the hands of Cygames' own Osaka studio. The game has also been delayed many times, so much so that every time I reported news about it, many commented that they had forgotten about its existence, or doubted it would ever actually be released.

And yet, we're finally here, on the eve of early access, and it feels almost surreal. Yet, the game is real, and we'll soon be playing it.

Will it be worth the wait? Time will tell. I am optimistic, but in the meantime, you can watch the trailer below. You can also check out the version with Japanese voices on Cygames' official channel.

As a bonus, Cygames also released another character trailer, this time focusing on Cagliostro, who can both deal plenty of damage and act as support and healer.

She's voiced in English by Sarah Williams (whom you can listen to below) and in Japanese by Sakura Tange. You can enjoy her performance on the Japanese version of the trailer on X (Formerly Twitter)

Recently, we also saw plenty more character trailers showing Gran and RackamNarmaya, Io, and SiegfriedKatalina, Zeta, and Yodarha, Charlotta, Lancelot, Ghandagoza, and Vaseraga, Djeeta, Ferry, and Eugen, and Rosetta, Vane, and Percival.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink will be released on February 1, 2024, for PS5, PS4, and PC. You're still in time to pre-order a physical copy on Amazon.

In the meanwhile, we also got news about its fighting game counterpart Final Fantasy Versus: Risingincluding the release date of version 1.2 and of the DLC adding 2B from NieR: Automata as a guest character.
