After just over a month on release, we have our first new Naraka: Bladepoint hero. Valda Cui is a water dragon who uses the power of the sea to overwhelm her enemies. She's available to unlock in-game right now.

How does the new Naraka: Bladepoint hero play?

Valda Cui was first announced to be coming to Naraka: Bladepoint last month, and now she's finally here. As you might imagine, Valda Cui's combat style is all about using water to trap and damage enemies. She fights with a lance made from water, and many of her moves are traps that damage and drench enemies if they walk into them. These include a bubble trap that drenches enemies who come into contact with it, as well as a water projectile that creates a tide trap when it hits an obstacle or reaches its max distance. You can check out a deep dive (no pun intended) on Valda Cui's abilities right here. There's also a pretty awesome live-action segment at the start of the video, introducing Valda Cui's character and her place in Naraka: Bladepoint.

If you want to unlock Valda Cui, you'll have to spend either 600 Gold (the real-money currency in the game) or 12,000 Tae (which you can amass by playing games and completing challenges). You can also give her a try using Trial Vouchers, three of which are available to you when you log in. If you want to know more about who Valda Cui is, you can check out her in-game info.

What else has changed in Naraka: Bladepoint?

It's not just Valda Cui's release that's new in the rather popular Naraka: Bladepoint. Per a new Steam announcement, the game has also received a major update which adds a new in-game event, some extra features, and some balance changes. The Mid-Autumn Festival event tasks you with collecting Mooncakes, which you can then swap for major in-game rewards. You'll also notice some balance tweaks including an increased melee weapon drop rate, a new voice distinction between enemy and ally Ultimate attacks, and several bug fixes. It's well worth reading the full patch notes to get a zoomed-in view of everything that's changing.

Melee weapons, like this ridiculously big sword, will now drop more frequently in Naraka: Bladepoint.

Naraka: Bladepoint was released on August 12th for PC. You can grab it right now via Steam. It's also coming to the Epic Games Store soon, so throw it on your wishlist if you'd rather play it via that storefront. We're pretty big fans of Naraka: Bladepoint here, so we'd highly recommend you try it out. Rather unusually for a modern battle royale game, it's not free-to-play; it'll set you back $19.99 if you want to pick it up.
