If you're a sci-fi adventure fan, you probably didn't want to see Deliver Us Mars delayed, but sadly, that's what's happened. Developer Keoken Interactive says it needs more time to "live up" to the game's ambitious premise, and so it's been pushed back until February next year.

What's the reason for this Deliver Us Mars delay?

According to Keoken Interactive, the Deliver Us Mars delay is down to a need to ensure that the studio's "most ambitious project to date" is as polished as it needs to be on release. Keoken says the decision to delay the game was "difficult", but that the shift in release date should ensure that the studio is able to live up to the ambition of its vision and "deliver the best experience we can". With that in mind, it's going to be a little longer until you can play this intriguing-looking game, unfortunately. It was originally due to launch next month.

Deliver Us Mars is Keoken's most ambitious game to date, and the studio apparently needs more time to realize that ambition.

When is the new Deliver Us Mars release date?

Keoken has shifted the Deliver Us Mars release date to February 3rd next year. While this might sound pretty far away, it's not all bad news; the studio says it's going to share "a fresh look" at Deliver Us Mars at the Gamescom Future Games Show next week, so make sure to tune into that if you're excited to hear more about this project. Gamescom is also where we're going to hear more about the new sci-fi IP from Subnautica creator Unknown Worlds, so between that and Deliver Us Mars, it's going to be a good show for sci-fi nerds like me.

Deliver Us Mars isn't just about the desolate "red planet" landscapes.

If you're not sure what Deliver Us Mars is, here's a quick primer. It's the sequel to Deliver Us the Moon, a sci-fi adventure game that launched all the way back in 2018 (and hit next-gen consoles earlier this year). The story of Mars follows on from Moon, taking place ten years after the first game and following astronaut Kathy Johansson as she attempts to discover the truth behind a mysterious distress call received from Mars. Keoken is promising the need to "use both brains and brawn" to overcome the game's challenges, and Mars will also offer a "highly polished and absorbing narrative experience", according to its official Steam page. We'll learn more about Deliver Us Mars in August, so stay tuned for more info on this one.
