The space-mining game Astroneer has pushed out an update which implements some new ores into the game, changes some crafting recipes, and fixes a few bugs according to a news post on the game's Steam Community page.
Astroneer is a game where one or more players are plopped down on an alien planet with a basic habitat and a terrain tool. From there, it's up to you to gather resources, research alien Artifacts, and build all sorts of industrial equipment. Once things are humming along nicely, you'll even be able to hop into a rocket ship and blast off to a different world in the solar system!
The game is currently in Early Access, and updates have been coming out at a somewhat steady pace as of late. Currently, the developers are focused on laying the groundwork for Terrain 2.0 (as noted in the game's roadmap). Astroneer has certainly made some good progress since our preview! There aren't many changes that make an immediate impact to players in today's patch, but a number of behind-the-scenes things have been done to lay the groundwork for the overhaul to the game's terrain generation.
Titanium is now the refined version of the new Titanite ore, and Wolframite and Hematite are ores that can now be smelted into Tungsten and Iron, respectively. These new ores are used in the following crafting recipes which have changed (along with the addition of craftable Thrusters):
- Drill Head: 1 Resin & 1 Tungsten
- Extra Large Platform: 2 Iron
- Extra Large Storage: 2 Aluminum & 2 Iron
- Fireworks: 1 Titanium
- Thruster: 2 Tungsten
A number of other bug fixes and minor adjustments have made their way into this patch; be sure to read the full patch notes for all of the details. System Era Softworks will be at PAX in just a few weeks to show off their game and we might just hear some interesting news about the future of this wonderful little title.
