First revealed by Bethesda two years ago at E3, Arkane Lyon is ready to reveal the gameplay of their new time-traveling FPS, Deathloop. Full of dual-wielding, sawed-off shotguns and Arkane's signature first-person superpowers, the stylish trailer was full of bloodshed and profanity.
You play as assassin stuck in a time loop. Opposing you are eight imposing forces, each with an army of goons you need to take off before you assassinate them. You can only break the loop and escape the fourth dimension when you take out each boss put in front of you.
Good morning, Blackreef. Another day, another chance to break the timeloop.@DEATHLOOP, a killer Next-Gen shooter coming exclusively to #PS5 and PC. From @ArkaneStudios, the team behind Dishonored. Launching Holiday 2020! pic.twitter.com/XektDNen97

The style of the game has a real exploration vibe like you're controlling the action of a sleazy double feature airing at one in the morning at your local drive-in theater. However, you can't sit back with your popcorn, because another rival assassin is also stuck in time, and they're aiming to take you down. Via the PlayStation Blog, Game Director Dinga Bakaba talked about that unique aspect, where single player and multiplayer collides:
The focus is on the campaign and the story. And that campaign can be played with Julianna controlled only by the AI, or – and this is our recommendation – by a mix of A.I. and random players to experience the range of unpredictability and chaos that Julianna is capable of.
Who will escape the loop? We'll see when Bethesda and Arkane Lyon's Deathloop hits its exclusive console home. The game will release on PlayStation 5 and PC in Holiday 2020.
