Office Sector

Talking to Dr. Thule.

Open the Cafeteria Door

Once you spawn in, talking to Dr. Thule starts the first task of opening the door to the cafeteria. Head to the yellow door, then proceed through the next few rooms until you reach the locked door where the other scientist is.

After reaching the locked door, you’ll have to craft an Energy Brick to fix it. The security break room contains all of the materials you’ll need, and a Desk Leg that can be used to break objects.

Smash up the PCs, and make a crafting bench near the blue power socket. Connect it, and then make the Energy Brick. Placing the Energy Brick in the required location will cause an enemy to attack, to fight back or run until it gives up.

Pick up a map in the plaza, then talk to the security guard.

Evacuate Sector via Manufacturing

Before heading out, make a quick base somewhere in the upper section — the office room is a decent choice, since you can use the large filing cabinets as storage. You can build below, but the security robot comes out at night and will destroy what you’ve built.

Heading to Manufacturing (up the plaza stairs, then go left), you’ll find a bleeding man named Grayson by a forklift. He mentions that a Power Cell could be used to fix the forklift and escape, but you need to find someone that knows how to get them.

Talking to Greyson, who is bleeding next to a forklift.

Find Someone Who Knows About Power Cells

This requires you to first double back into the plaza — before leaving again, make sure to craft a Power Brick. Head into the Reception area, exit from the left, then follow the path left until you reach a large door that requires a Power Brick to open.

Open it, then go down the path and up the elevator in the next room to Office Sector level 3 (the other door is a shortcut that leads back to Grayson). Once up there, you’ll come across a portal. Use one of the iodine tablets nearby, then jump in the portal.

While you can fight the enemies here, the best strategy is to just run through (the entire area is linear). Pick up some of the Anteverse Wheat along the way, as these can be used to make healing items.

Heading out of the portal world via another purple portal, you’ll be dropped back into Office Sector level 3. Heading through level 3, you’ll pass through the Exec. Offices and reach a locked Silo 3. In the room next to it is Dr. Mayfield, who says you’ll need to hack the door to get in.

Silo 3, which is locked.

Open Silo 3 to Retrieve Power Cells

Before starting on making the Hacking Tool, head to the supply room next to Silo 3. This has an Anvil, a limited resource that is needed to make Repair and Salvage Stations. This will let you repair weapons and armor at the cost of basic materials. The supply closet also features a shortcut back to Office Sector Level 2.

Crafting the Hacking Tool requires three items: a Controller, LCD Screen, and Infrared Emitter. While most of the items needed for these are easy to collect, the main issue is the Computation Brick. This requires a Security Bot CPU, only obtainable by destroying the robots that roam the facility at night.

Attacking a resting Security Bot with a baton.

Your best shot at this is by crafting a Makeshift Crossbow. This requires Rubber Band Balls (often found lying around on desks or in filing cabinets), Desk Leg (destroy desks), Plastic Scrap (a number of sources, but binders are consistent), and a Stapler (lots of desks).

Using this and Makeshift Bolts (Pen + Metal Scrap) lets you fight at a distance. The bots are dangerous at close range as they have a stun attack, though you can kite them around tables and other level geometry. There are a few robots found in the facility, including in the Plaza and by the entrance to Manufacturing.

Once all three items are crafted and the Hacking Tool is made, you can open the door to Silo 3. If you want to make a quick detour, the locked door near the entrance to Manufacturing can now be opened. This leads to the Security Office, where you can hack another door to obtain a Pistol (though this has limited ammo and can’t be repaired right now.)

In a foggy town, looking towards a door with a sign above it saying "Bounty Basket"

Enter the Portal to Recover Power Cells

Activate the panel to open the portal, head down the stairs (make sure to grab the radiation suit) then enter a new world. Flathill is a very foggy place, inhabited by large enemies that cannot be killed (they’re also the only enemy type).

Head through the building with the “Bounty Basket” sign, then go through the vent on the second floor. Dropping down into another room, you’ll meet an NPC that tells you to find the Power Cells.

Head through the streets, making sure not to alert the enemies — their sight range is relatively low, but they can enter buildings with large doors. Go through the park, exiting into another street before finding a building with two double doors and a clock above them.

Progressing through the building, you’ll reach the roof with the first power cell. Taking it opens up a small portal. While you can leave Flathill at this point, there are three Power Cells in total to take.

Progression from this point is linear, with each portal taking you to the next place you explore to find a Power Cell. Note that red doors are always locked so you can ignore them. A number of shortcuts also become available, leading back to the starting area. Finding the third power cell will open up a new area in Office Sector Level 3.

Use Power Cell to Access Manufacturing Sector

With a Power Cell in hand, head back to the entrance to Manufacturing to power the forklift and open the way. If you go left from this point and down the elevator, you can unlock another shortcut back to the Plaza.

From here, you'll now start exploring Manufacturing West, which is home to lots of tougher enemies.
