Today Grinding Gear Games announced that the much-awaited beta test of Path of Exile 2 has been delayed once again.

Previously, the game was supposed to start its beta testing on June 7, as announced nearly a year ago. Now we hear that it'll happen around the end of the year.

That being said, the developers will still perform alpha testing in June.

According to Grinding Gears, as shared on X (formerly Twitter), the content would be ready in time, but the developers underestimated how long it would take to polish the gameplay.

Path of Exile 2`s beta is going to be delayed.

We previously said that we would get the beta out on June 7th and while we think we would be able to get the game's content ready in time, we underestimated how long it will take to get gameplay polished to a standard we're happy with.

We're still going to be doing alpha testing in June, but we are going to be delaying the beta until later in the year.

We don't have an exact date for you yet, but it should be towards the end of the year.

This is certainly not the first time the beta has been delayed. We've been hearing this song since 2020.

That being said, we do get some spiffy reveals today, including the first trailer of the Ranger class. We also got our hands on it at PAX East and enjoyed our time with it.

You can also check out a more extensive video segment showing more gameplay of the Ranger.

To keep you busy until the beta of Path of Exile 2, today Grinding Gears showcased the Necropolis expansion for the original Path of Exile. It's coming on March 29, 2024.

It'll bring the Necropolis Challenge League, changes to the endgame, new tier 17 Maps and Bosses, and new Transfigured Gems

You can check out the trailer below.

If you're unfamiliar with Path of Exile 2, it's the sequel to Path of Exile. It was previously intended to be basically an expansion, but last year it was turned into a full-fledged, stand-alone game.

The original game is a popular free-to-play action RPG originally launched in 2013 and is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
