Xseed Games and Mages have announced the Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion release date.

The upcoming horror adventure game is slated to arrive on August 28th, if the official website is anything to be believed. Messing around with an image on the site's front page for a few seconds reveals the release date, as well as some rather creepy artwork.

A new announcement trailer was also released alongside this announcement, confirming that Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion isn't going to be a laugh riot, it seems.

The trailer reveals that Corpse Party II will take place in a hospital "with a terrible past". I suppose it wouldn't be much of a setting for a horror game if it didn't have one of those.

The story will revolve around an urban legend called Ayame's Mercy, as well as a ritual that supposedly causes those who perform it to disappear.

We then get to see a few glimpses of gameplay, and it looks like Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion will ditch the pixel art style of previous Corpse Party games in favor of a full 3D look.

Finally, the trailer threatens that we'll "never leave" this hospital. You can take a look at the trailer, which offers a brief look at what you can expect from Corpse Party II, right here.

It's worth noting that Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion is distinct from the previously-released Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient, and it also isn't a remake or reimagining of any previous Corpse Party games.

Instead, the game will feature "new characters, a new setting, a terrifying new curse, and a brand-new look", according to the trailer's description.

Strangely enough, the trailer simply lists a release window of "fall 2024" rather than the same full release date that the website features. Hopefully, the August 28th date is correct.

So sayeth the official website.

Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion is set to launch for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on August 28th (or, indeed, in fall 2024). Stay tuned for more info on this.
