A New World: Forged in Aeternum Q&A session gives us more insight into what lies ahead for the open-world MMORPG and answers some of the bigger questions players have asked regarding balance and changes.

Scot Lane, New World's Game Director, Katy Kaszynski, Live Lead and the Senior Producer, and Technical Director Dave Sullivan are on stage to provide the answers.

One of the first questions asked was a big one, quizzing the developers on why some of the hottest topics and issues aren't handled in a timely manner. To break that question down a bit, it's asking why when there is an uproar among players who all have the same issue, the problem takes so long to fix that those who submitted that feedback are gone. The team responded that they understand players have these concerns, and they attempt to fix things as quickly as they can as well as being as transparent as they can. Some bugs are easy to fix and some take a lot of time, and the team knows that, but they do their best to fix them as quickly as they can.

Out of all of the questions asked, another relevant one is about the balance of the game. New World has both PvP and PvE elements, but both of those vastly different worlds sometimes blend together. That creates a massive imbalance not only in power but in the gameplay itself. Let's take a great axe for example. Though the axe does a massive amount of damage to NPC enemies, it might be horrendous when fighting a live foe. The stats of each weapon don't change for the different modes, which can mean someone using a great axe can get slaughtered by someone with a bow and arrow.

In regard to this PvP and PvE balance issue, the team says that the game already "has a few tools in the toolbelt" that separate the modes, and that they should be utilized to help create more balance. These "tools" include the Resilient perk and the Banes that are currently available. Most games aim to keep these modes entirely separate, and the team has obviously faced several challenges by not making them separate entities, and plans on fixing this in the near future.

To hear all of the questions and answers from the team, you can watch the trailer embedded above. New World is currently only available on PC via Steam.
