The Spider-Man Remastered Peter Parker face model has been recast, presenting players with a very different look in this graphically-enhanced version of the PS4 exclusive that's coming to Sony's next-generation console.

Spider-Man Remastered is an enhanced edition of Marvel's Spider-Man on the PS4 that will only be available to people who purchase the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It's shaping up to look pretty nice, but it also features a surprising change in the look of Peter Parker.

Have a gander at the new Spider-Man Remastered Peter Parker face model in the latest trailer!

Why Was the Spider-Man Remastered Peter Parker Model Recast?

The Spider-Man Remastered Peter Parker model was recast for one simple reason: it looked better when paired with the existing facial capture.

"In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker," read a PlayStation blog post from Insomniac's James Stevenson. "We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life."

If you don't quite understand what that means, here's the rundown. A bid-budget modern game will typically have three parts for bringing a character to life: voice acting, motion capture, and facial motion capture. In some cases, the same actor plays all three parts. In other cases, one or more actors will work together to bring a virtual character to life. In this case, Insomniac says that it made the decision to go with a new Spider-Man Remastered Peter Parker face model because it provided a better look.

Spider-Man Remastered will look very different from its predecessor, especially with a new person playing the face of Peter Parker. You'll be able to relive Spideys latest adventure when it arrives as part of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition on November 12, 2020.
