Microsoft keeps urging Windows XP users to upgrade, offers free software

For those of you who are still holding dearly on to your installation of Windows XP, the intensity in which Microsoft urges you to upgrade will be ramping up, soon.

Offering free software in the form of Laplink's PC Mover Express, Microsoft hopes to make the transition to a newer OS for those still using Windows XP as easy as possible.

In addition to the transition software, notifications of XP's ever-looming support cutoff date will start popping up on user's desktops beginning on March 8th. These notifications will remind users that after April 8th, Microsoft will no longer be pushing security updates, which may leave users vulnerable to new threats to their system.

Whether this will be enough to move people away from what's still the second most popular operating system currently used remains to be seen, users should at the very least be aware of what this means for them.
