For gamers eyeing a new processor or new build, this holiday weekend may be a good time to pick up a new CPU for your gaming rig. Case in point with today's price drop on the Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake processor - hitting an all new low price $299.99.
Prior to May 2016, you'd have a hard time finding the Core i7-6700K under $400. Before this month it was rarely under $350. Today, we've finally broken the $300 mark for the popular Quad-Core processor. It is currently available via Antonline on their eBay storefront (an authorized Intel dealer).
- Intel Core i7-6700K 4.00 GHz Processor — $299.99 (list $399)
- Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P Motherboard + Core i7-6700K Processor Bundle — $399.99 (list $549)
If you need a motherboard to go along with the 6700K, Antonline also has the Core i7-6700K bundled with a Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P Motherboard for $399.99. The Gigabyte mobo itself is priced around $110 to $150 online, so you'll have additional savings in this package (perfect if you're building a new system or if you need a new board with Intel's Z10 chipset).
Just a note for those checking prices: the Core i7-6700K is different than the non-K model. These processors are better "binned" models and thus Intel sells them as unlocked processors that can be overclocked. If you're an enthusiast looking to overclock, the 6700K is what you'll be looking for. Prices on the non-K are hovering around $300 on Amazon as of writing, while the non-deal 6700K is at about $356. With these pricings, you may as well go with the deal mentioned above :)
If you need a new GPU to go along with your new system (or a new monitor), there are a few other noteworthy eBay tech deals floating about this week too:
- EVGA GTX 980 Ti 6GB GDDR5 Video Card — $409.99 (list $610)
- LG 34UM57 34-inch UltraWide IPS LED Gaming Monitor — $319.99 (list $600)
- LG 27MP65HQ-P 27-inch AH-IPS LED Monitor — $159.99 (list $300)
- Dell P2314H 23-inch 1080p IPS Monitor — $149.99 (list $200)
The GTX 980 Ti at $410 is also at a new low threshold, and the retailer in question is Newegg with free shipping and full warranty. A good pick-up also includes the higher-end LG 34-inch UltraWide IPS gaming monitor, which returns to its historic low price of $320 (last seen Black Friday 2015). While it took the Core i7-6700K a whopping 9 months to reach its MSRP, in recent weeks its pricing has been steadily diminishing as supply and demand catch up. It'll be interesting to see where the CPU ends up in pricing towards the end of the year as Kaby Lake and AMD's Zen edges closer to release.
