Today, Intel announced the S2600TP family of dual socket servers targeted at high-performance computing, cloud and data storage solutions, which support the Xeon E5-2600 V3 processor line. As of now, the family consists of two bare boards and two compute modules, 6.8" x 18.9" half-width servers.

The two bare boards both support 160W CPUs, but only one of them has integrated FDR InfiniBand connectivity (order code BBS2600TPF). As a tradeoff, the TPF only has one PCIe 3.0 x24 riser slot, compared to the two of that without native InfiniBand (order code BBS2600TP), which has in turn one less PCIe x16 connector, for a total of 80 available PCIe 3.0 lanes for the TP and 72 PCIe 3.0 lanes for the TPF.

The cased models, named HNS2600TP and HNS2600TPF, both support up to 145W TDP processors, maintaining the differences quoted above between the TP and TPF designations.

All the mentioned products have one Intel I/O Expansion Module connector each, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and 16 RAM sockets which support up to 1024 GB of memory using LR/R-DIMMs. They are also mechanically compatible with the S2600WP product line.

Customers will be able to place preorders in February 2015, with general availability slated for March 2015.
