Best Buy's Black Friday in July: Actually Decent Game & Tech Deals

This weekend, Best Buy is joining other retailers in their consistent attempt to make "Black Friday in July" into a successful marketing event. Even though we think the whole thing is still very much gimmicky, the sales has actually been steadily getting better through the years.

In the video game deals section, we're spotting a number of new historic low prices, particularly on rarely discounted Nintendo Wii U titles such as Star Fox Zero and Super Mario Maker. For the PlayStation 4, we're seeing new low price on popular must-have titles such as Bloodborne.

Noteworthy non-gaming related tech deals fall into the Apple camp with discounts on Macbook Pro and iPad Pro. While we think the iPad Pro is a bit frivolous at its list price, the cheapest 32GB WiFi iPad Pro model is now only $475 after a big $150 price cut, whereas the cheapest Macbook Pro is now $950 for a non-Retina display Core i5 model.

If you're in need for an HDTV, Best Buy has a number of respectable pricing on LG big screens, with non-UHD models going as low as $450 for a 55-inch Smart HDTV. Finally, although we spotted a few CyberPowerPC pre-built machines at an aggressive price point - we think you're still better off building your own box given the integrated Radeon GPU in these options are a bit lacking for any serious type of gaming.
