JoyToy Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians Review

As Games Workshop expands its IPs further and further (recently we've had 40K Magic the Gathering cards and soon we're getting Warhammer stamps), one company has been producing Warhammer 40K action figures. JoyToy currently offers a huge range of 1/18th scale Warhammer 40K figures for a variety of factions, and in this article, we'll take a look at 3 of the brand new Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians Action Figures, who come clad in huge Allarus Terminator Armor.

Who Are the Adeptus Custodes?

Warhammer 40K is most well-known for the Space Marines, the poster boys of the IP. Incredible warriors, fighting for the Imperium and the Emperor. But the Space Marines are flawed, and half of them sided with the arch-traitor Horus during the Horus Heresy. Standing beside the Emperor, as His guardians and bodyguard, are the Adeptus Costodes. These incredible warriors, who stand taller than even the super-lative Space Marines, who were built for squad fighting, are individual fighters, designed to work independently, and overlap their individual fighting styles when fighting with others. Their warriors come clad in bright golden armor, and they suffer no threats to the Emperor, whatever form they take.

What Are JoyToy Action Figures?

JoyToy action figures are a range of action figures for different IPs. Currently, they produce for Warhammer 40K, Infinity, and their own IPs Frontline Chaos and Dark Source. Most of their figures stand at around 5 to 6 inches, varying depending on the scale, feature incredible detail and intricate components and each action figure is fully posable. 

How Easy Is It To Replace Parts and Pose JoyToy Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians Action Figures?

Almost all of the movable parts of all JoyToy figures involve a ball and socket. This is how the hands and heads are with the Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians, which allows them to be moved and posed. Some parts, like the sheaths for the swords, and the plumes for their helms simply slot into place. All of the weapons for the figures need a little force into the hands to ensure they're gripped properly, but the slightly rubbery nature of the material makes this easy enough, so don't be scared by the initial resistance when trying to put weapons into grips.

Shield Captain Hydron comes with 2 head options, which can be difficult to replace due to the cowl which the head sits under. Once in place, it sits firm and can be turned as normal. 

Posing the figures is easy enough, the Allarus Terminator Armor is huge, and fairly restrictive as is expected, but it's easy to find balance in the poses so they stand correctly and then position the weapons into action poses.

At the time of publication, only 3 Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians are available, and we look at them in detail below. These are also currently the only Adeptus Custodes available but with the rate of expansion of the other factions, we may see more of the golden boys soon.

Each JoyToy Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians comes with a couple of weapons and hand options to match. All 3 Allarus Custodians come armed with wrist-mounted balistus grenade launchers, and misericordia daggers that can be kept attached in their sheath or held in one of the hand options.

What Are Our Final Thoughts On The JoyToy Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians Action Figures?

The 3 Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians tower over the rest of the JoyToy Warhammer 40K line, as you would imagine they should. They're solid figures and the detail is incredible. The fact the swords can be sheathed is a great touch. The paintwork on the armor and gems really stands out, and Hydon's unhelmed face has some great texture on the skin. Their weapons are also huge, especially the ornate vexilla standard which stands taller than Allarus Custodians themselves.

Should I Buy The JoyToy Adeptus Custodes Allarus Custodians Action Figures?

If you're a fan of the Adeptus Custodes, then these are incredibly impressive figures. They're huge and solid, and provide plenty of options for posing, either in combat positions or in guard positions like the armored guardians they are. As they're the only Adeptus Custodes figures currently available, if you're a Custodes player then these will be what you pick up. They cost a little more than the standard Marine figures, but you can see in the size comparison why. They're not only taller, but their armor is a lot thicker.
