While Kaladesh spoiler season doesn't begin properly until September 04, 2016, Magic: The Gathering Head Designer Mark Rosewater has said we'll see a few spoilers coming this weekend from PAX West. True to his word, we've had quite a few Magic: The Gathering spoilers roll out the Wizard of the Coast Twitter account.

The first is one of two new Planeswalkers for the Kaladesh block, Saheeli Rai, who is a Blue/Red Artifact-themed Planeswalker native to the plane of Kaladesh. Saheeli Rai requires you to pay one generic, one Blue, and one Red mana to cast her, and enters the field with three Loyalty counters. Her first Loyalty ability, her plus one, lets you Scry the top card of your deck and also deals one point of damage to target opponent. Her second Loyalty ability, her negative two, creates a token copy of target Creature or Artifact that you control; it gains Haste and is an Artifact in addition to its other types. It's exiled at the beginning of the next end step. Her final Loyalty ability, her minus seven, lets you search your library for up to three Artifacts with different names, put them onto the battlefield, and then shuffle your library.

Next is a new Red burn spell; Furious Reprisal is a Sorcery-speed spell that costs three generic and one Red mana to cast, and deals two damage to each of two target creatures and/or players.

As Wizards of the Coast is taking a very strong Artifacts-matter approach to Kaladesh, they've introduced a helpful way for players to get more Artifacts onto the field. Whirlermaker is an Artifact with a casting cost of three generic mana; by paying four generic mana and tapping it, you can Create a 1/1 Thopter Artifact Creature Token with Flying.

We also have a number of cards featuring Kaladesh's brand-new mechanics and ability words; the first of these is Aetherworks Marvel, a Legendary Artifact that can be cast for four generic mana. It features a new symbol for a type of counter called an "energy counter"; whenever a permanent you control is put into the graveyard, you get one of these energy counters. By tapping Aetherworks Marvel and paying six energy counters, you can look at the top six cards of your library and cast one of those cards without paying its mana cost. The rest of the cards go to the bottom of your library in a random order. Wizards of the Coast has also confirmed that this new Energy ability word is the "Mechanic E" that Magic: The Gathering Head Designer Mark Rosewater has been alluding to for quite some time now.

Architect of the Untamed also features the new Energy ability word. This 2/3 Elf Artificer Druid has a casting cost of two generic and one Green mana, and gives you an energy counter whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control. By paying eight energy counters, you can Create a 6/6 Colorless Beast Artifact Creature Token.

Propeller Pioneer is the next card to feature a new mechanic; this 2/1 Human Artificer requires you to pay three generic and one White mana to cast it. It features the new Fabricate ability word in the form of Fabricate 1, which either lets you put a +1/+1 counter onto that creature, or create a 1/1 Colorless Servo Artifact Creature token when Propeller Pioneer enters the battlefield. Glint-Sleeve Artisan, a 2/2 Dwarf Artificer, also bears Fabricate 1.

Our final new Magic: The Gathering mechanic is found on Ovalchase Dragster, Skysovereign, Consul Flagship, and Sky Skiff, and Fleetwheel Cruiser (which was posted during Mark Rosewaters Drive to Work live stream),  all of which are Artifacts bearing the new subtype of "Vehicle". Ovalchase Dragster requires four generic mana to cast, and bears the "Crew" ability word, specifically "Crew 1". By tapping any number of creatures that you control that have total power of one or more, Ovalchase Dragster becomes an Artifact Creature until the end of turn. This allows Ovalchase Dragster to make use of its ability words of Trample and Haste. Skysovereign, Consul Flagship is a 6/5 Flying Legendary Artifact with a casting cost of five generic mana; when it enters the battlefield or attacks, it deals three damage to target Creature or Planeswalker an opponent controls. It also bears the new "Crew" ability word, only it requires you to tap any number of creatures with total power of three or more. Sky Skiff is a 2/3 Flying Artifact with a casting cost of two generic mana, and bears the Crew 1 ability word. Fleetwheel Cruiser is a 5/4 Artifact with Trample and Haste and a casting cost of four generic mana; when it enters the battlefield, it becomes an Artifact Creature until the end of the turn. It also has the Crew 2 ability word.

Every vehicle needs a pilot, and Kaladesh has some in the new Pilot sub-type Creatures Legendary Dwarf Depala, Pilot Exemplar and Speedway Fanatic. Depala is a 3/3 Creature with a casting cost of one generic, one Red, and one White mana, and gives a +1/+1 buff to other Dwarf Creatures you control, as well as any Vehicles you control (so long as they're Artifact Creatures). Whenever Depala, Pilot Exemplar becomes tapped, you may pay X generic mana to reveal the top X cards of your library. You then put all Dwarf and Vehicles cards revealed this way into your hand, and the rest of the revealed cards on the bottom of your library in a random order. Speedway Fanatic is a 2/1 Human Pilot with Haste and a casting cost of one generic and one Red mana. Whenever she crews a Vehicle, that Vehicle gains Haste until the end of the turn.

If you don't have creatures available to crew a Vehicle, don't worry, cards like Start Your Engines can help you out. This Red Sorcery-speed spell turns all of your Vehicles into Creatures until the end of the turn, and all of your Creatures get a +2/+0 buff until the end of the turn.

Wizards of the Coast has also released information on a new Creature sub-type called "Aetherborn", and the first card to feature this is the Legendary Creature Gonti, Lord of Lurxury. This 2/3 Aetherborn Rogue requires two generic and two Black mana to cast, and has the Deathtouch ability word. When Gonti, Lord of Luxury enters the battlefield, you can look at the top four cards of target opponents library, choosing one and putting the other three on the bottom of target opponents library in a random order. That chosen card is exiled face down, and as long as that card is exiled, you may look at it, cast it, and spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast it.

Our next spoiler card is from one of the Magic: The Gathering Community Ambassadors sent by Wizards of the Coast to PAX West. Zach posted Rashmi, Eternities Crafter to his Tumblr page; Rashmi is a 2/3 Legendary Elf Druid with a casting cost of two generic, one Blue, and one Green mana, and some very interesting abilities. Whenever you cast your first spell of the turn, you can reveal the top card of your library - if the card is a non-land card with a lower casting cost than your first spell, you can cast it without paying its mana cost. Otherwise, the card is put into your hand.

The Magic: The Gathering Facebook page has also gotten in on the spoiler action, sharing a card in their UK and Ireland stream. Aetherstorm Roc is a 3/3 Bird Creature with a casting cost of two generic and two White mana, and has the Flying ability word. Whenever it or another Creature enter the battlefield under control, you get an energy counter. Whenever Aetherstorm Roc attacks, you can pay two energy counters to put a +1/+1 counter on it and tap up to one defending creature that target opponent controls. This spoiler was also shared by @WindmillSlamMTG on Twitter.

We also have a few vanilla spoilers courtesy of the Wizards of the Coast YouTube channel; their Magic: The Gathering Kaladesh Vehicle spotlight video shows off three new cards, which are Tasseled Dromedary, Curio Vendor, and Terror of the Fairground. All of these cards are vanilla creatures with no additional abilities.

Another card was spoiled in the Kaladesh Fabricate spotlight video; that card is a reprint of Aether Tradewinds, which was last printed in the original Conspiracy block. Aether Tradewinds is a Blue Instant-speed spell with a casting cost of two generic and one Blue mana; it returns target permanent you control and target permanent you don't control to their owners hand.

Finally, it seems that Wizards of the Coast snuck a Magic: The Gathering spoiler card in ahead of spoiler season yesterday, September 01, 2016. This Kaladesh story article, which was posted on August 31, 2016, suddenly seems to feature the first official spoiler card from the Kaladesh set: Inventors' Fair.

Inventors' Fair: Wizards of the Coast, Magic: The Gathering, Kaladesh

Inventors' Fair is a Legendary Land, which can be tapped to add one generic mana to your mana pool. It also features abilities with similar wording to the Metalcraft ability word from the Scars of Mirrodin block; if, at the beginning of your upkeep, you control three or more artifacts, you gain one life. By paying four generic mana, owning three or more artifacts, and tapping and sacrificing Inventors' Fair, you can search your library for an artifact card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. You shuffle your library afterward.

There are a few things about this card that are of immediate interest. The first is that, unlike the previously leaked card which featured a watermark of the Kaladesh expansion symbol, Inventors' Fair has a watermark of the Planeswalker symbol. In addition, in the lower left-hand side of the card, eagle-eyed readers might be able to spot some new text, "Story Spotlight 1/5". Kaladesh stories four, seven, eight and nine have cardback placeholders in the Kaladesh story hub, so more of these "Story Spotlight" cards might be revealed in these specific stories. It could be that these cards are special variations of cards in the set, or possibly that Wizards of the Coast is now marking which cards make appearances in their story articles; it's unclear right now what Wizards of the Coast is intending with this new distinction.

While Kaladesh spoiler season doesn't begin properly until September 04, 2016, Mark Rosewater has said we'll see a few spoilers coming this weekend from PAX West; TechRaptor will keep you updated on the latest Kaladesh and Magic: The Gathering news.

What are your thoughts on these spoilers from Wizards of the Coast? Are you glad to see a Metalcraft-esque ability back in Standard? Do you think any cards will be viable in other Magic: The Gathering formats? Let us know in the comment section below.
