With the holidays around the corner, fans of Dungeons and Dragons have something special to look forward to. December 20 marks the annual D20 day (get it?) where publishers and players alike celebrate the joy and community of tabletop RPGs in their own special way. For Wizards of the Coast, this means a brand new, holiday-themed DnD adventure streamed live with several celebrities, including beloved comedian musician, Jack Black.

The name of this D20 Day DnD adventure is Lost Odyssey: Promised Gold and it will be DM'd by Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood). Those who tuned in to last year's D20 Day adventure will be pleased to know that Jack Black and his character, the Dwarf Warlock/Bard Barrolo, will be returning for this adventure as well. In addition, the new adventuring party will be made up of the following celebrities with the following characters:

  • Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things) playing Meryl Stroop, a Half-Elf Ranger/Monk.
  • Janina Gavankar (Blindspotting) playing Zap, a Human Bard
  • Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) playing  Ruby, a Rock Gnome Druid
  • Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast and Furious Series) playing Lux, a Dark Elf Rogue
  • Reggie Watts (Taskmaster) playing Bronwyn, a Wood Elf Ranger

This D20 Day holiday adventure will be streamed live at 10:00 AM PT on IGN's TikTok channel. During the broadcast, money will also be raised for both Extra Life and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Finally, Wizards of the Coast will be releasing a free Dungeons and Dragons adventure on the same day. While we currently have no idea as to the name of the adventure or what is included in it, it will be provided on their official website, both through their Essentials Kit product page and their Stay at Home, Play at Home content hub.

Considering Dungeons and Dragons' rising popularity as well as its continuing expansion into other genres, seeing the power of such a communal experience go towards something for the holidays is an experience that fits.
