The latest edition of Kill Team, which was released over the weekend, sees an updated ruleset, and fully updated faction lists for all factions launched during the Kill Team 2021 to 2024 seasons. This season of Kill Team takes place on the planet Volkus, which houses the Massif Ballistus, known as the Great Gun. A weapon so large and powerful, that it uses the rotation of the planet to aid slingshotting its munitions into orbit to target any invading force.

The Massif Ballistus, or the Great Gun of planet Volkus.

The Kill Team Global Mission takes place underneath the Great Gun, and players are attempting to retrieve crucial intelligence before the Great Gun fires and lay waste to the ground beneath it. During each turning point, a new rule comes into effect as the weapon moves through its firing cycle. In the first round, the great hymns of Adeptus Mechanicus join in with the millions who worship the Great Gun, and operatives get a bonus to their move allowance. In later rounds, the Great Gun fires and any operatives not in sufficient cover can take damage, with all operatives suffering penalties to their movement in the final round as the shockwave of the weapon verberates across the planet.

To take part in the Global Mission, players can access the Mission Brief by signing up to Games Workshop's newsletter here, and once the mission is played on the 12 Oct 24, players submit their results through the Command Center to be in with a chance of winning all-new Kill Team products for a year.

I'm going to be taking the new Astra Militarum Tempestus Aquilon to battle this weekend. Their drop insertion and rapid insertion rules mean that getting to objectives before your opponent, in order to initiate transmission to gain victory points during the scenario should be easier. Keeping them on objectives against the more heavily armed and armored kill teams may be a challenge though, and I'm looking forward to seeing how players use the variety of kill teams to tackle the mission.
