Plaid Hat Games has announced a brand new version of the classic game that started the company began with. Summoner Wars Second Edition is an updated version of the original 2-play card that combines the fun of deckbuilding with the strategy of tabletop miniatures games.

In Summoner Wars you control a summoner and must use your magic to do battle with your opponent by summoning units, moving them around the battlefield, and casting other devastating spells. The Second Edition update reimagines the classic factions from the 2009 original, and even adds some new ones, so even if you've played the game before it sounds like the sort of update that you don't want to miss out on.
It's not just a new physical game either, Summoner Wars Second Edition brings a digital version of the game to your screen for the first time. Now, you'll be able to play the game with friends all over the world, and even better, there's a bot so if you don't have any friends you're not left out of the fun. If you're a fan of convenience you'll enjoy the digital options, as it will be constantly updated with the new factions that expand the game (note: the android game Summoners War is not related to this game.)

If you're looking to get your hands on a copy of Summoner Wars Second Edition then you've got a whole suite of options to choose from. The base game itself will set you back a cool $50, but for the same price, you can enroll in the subscription option that'll see the new expansions shipped straight to your door as soon as they release for less than $30. If you're only really interested in the digital edition of the game it's only going to set you back $10.
