Catalyst Game Labs, printers of Shadowrun and Battletech, has announced Shadowrun Sixth Edition, a new edition of the famed tabletop roleplaying game. Shadowrun: Sixth World is the 6th edition of the RPG to have been released since the series' inception in 1989 and will feature new versions of the classic rules which will be easier for new players to understand without compromising on the roleplaying depth of the cyberpunk-fantasy series.
Shadowrun: Sixth World will first be available via a starter box to be released this coming June, with further supplements and sourcebooks to be available in the near future. The setting of the latest edition is also already available to be explored thanks to Shadowrun: The Frame Job a new novella set in the Sixth World, already available from Catalyst Game Labs. The new novella will feature the characters from the starter box and will help to introduce players to the settings, language and world building which will be featured in the game at its launch.
Catalyst also announced that Shadowrun: Sixth World will be localized into Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Italian and Russian with the help of several localization teams who have already begun the process. More information about the game is to be made available next Wednesday (May 8th) when fans will be given a product overview of the latest edition. There are several other events planned throughout May and June which will introduce future players to the new game, including a Developer Overview, a Q&A session, Fiction Introduction culminating with a full preview at the Origins International Games Expo on June 12th.
