Z-Man Games, publisher of titles such as Pandemic and Parade, have announced a brand new real-time board game set in the Pandemic universe. Pandemic: Rapid Response is a co-operative board game where players must work together to deliver enough supplies to infected cities around the world before time runs out. Set aboard a state-of-the-art airplane each player controllers a different member of the Crisis Response Unit (CRU), and must work together to fly around the world and save as many cities as possible.

Pandemic: Rapid Response uses real-time to limit how long the players have to complete their objective. The game is bundled with a two-minute sand timer, and each time the timer runs out a new city is infected and the end ticks closer and closer. If the players cannot save all of the cities before time runs out they instantly lose the game. Pandemic: Rapid Response has a lot of similarities to the original Pandemic but seems to have a much quicker playtime, taking only an estimated 20 minutes to complete, compared with the 40+ minutes required for a standard game of Pandemic.

Pandemic: Rapid Response will be available from the 23rd of June and will be available exclusively available from Target in North America. Outside of the US fans of the series will be able to pick up a copy through regular tabletop retailers and will be available in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Dutch, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Czech, Hungarian, and Romanian, although the Hungarian and Romanian versions will be released a few weeks late. You can find out even more about the game at the official Z-Man Games website.
